Bill Vaughan is a fourth generation Californian who grew up in West Los Angeles and San Francisco. He attended prep school at the Lawrenceville School in New Jersey and college at the University of California at Berkeley.

Following graduation, Bill served from 1967 to 1969 on the USS Coral Sea and with the U.S. Naval River Forces based in Saigon, Vietnam. He then attended Thunderbird, the American Graduate School of International Management.

Santa Barbara's dramatic natural beauty brought Bill's family to Montecito. A love of tennis, golf and the beaches inspired them to purchase a getaway home, which soon evolved into a larger family home, where they are now raising their two children.

Bill began his real estate career in 1976, working for two large residential developers in Orange County. Over the next 20 years, Bill specialized in commercial real estate sales and leasing in Seattle and in Los Angeles, where he was a Senior Vice President of two national commercial real estate companies, and a former member of the prestigious Colbert Coldwell Circle.

A Montecito homeowner since 1984, Bill understands the subleties and amenities of the different neighborhoods and will put his local knowledge to work for you. Bill is an active tennis player and golfer, and is a member of Miramar Beach & Tennis Club and Birnam Wood Golf Club in Montecito. He is a former member of Knollwood Tennis Club in Montecito, The California Club, Los Angeles Country Club and the San Francisco Golf Club.

Bill and his wife, Nanette, appreciate the sophisticated lifestyle of this small yet cultured city. Theater events and fine museums complement the great shopping and tantalizing restaurants of the area. Distinctive architecture is available in all sizes - from a quaint beachside condo to an elegant Mediterranean villa with horse trails.

Bill has had extensive professional experience negotiating deals for major multinational corporations, with a specialty in representing law firms. His client list includes such prestigious firms as Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher, Latham & Watkins, Sidley & Austin, Lyon & Lyon, and Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom.

A sudden heart attack in November 1997 caused Bill to reevaluate his priorities and to reduce the stress of commuting and doing business in downtown Los Angeles. Bill made a seamless transition into the Santa Barbara residential market in 1998, becoming Associate Broker with Village Properties and enjoyed ten years of success with the firm.

Despite the economic uncertainties of 2008, Bill realized his dream of independence and established the boutique firm of MONTECITO VILLAGE REALTY GROUP in 2009. His wealth of experience in up and down markets and in commercial and residential real estate deals sets him apart from his competitors. His marketing and negotiating skills as well as his industry connections provide his clients with all the tools needed for successful transactions. Just like his clients, Bill is selective in his undertakings, whether they be listings or client representations.

Amenities abound here - golf, swimming, polo, tennis, and hiking are all just minutes away. Recent renovations at the expanded Santa Barbara Airport make travel even easier - and safer.

Young families enjoy having a choice between respected public and private schools. Couples like the casual elegance of the Spanish-flavored downtown. And everyone savors the small town feelings of congeniality and community pride.

A home represents one of the largest and most important business decisions you ever make. Entrust this most important investment to a professional who knows the Santa Barbara area communities.
